Read Comic Files in Your Browser

Open a local .cbz, .cbr or .cbt comic and flip through the pages instantly. Your archive stays on your device - nothing is ever uploaded.

What you can do with the comic reader

Read CBZ, CBR and CBT Locally

Open .cbz (ZIP), .cbr (RAR) and .cbt (TAR) comic archives straight from your computer. No account, no sign-up and no server uploads.

Natural Page Ordering

Pages are sorted numerically, so page 2 comes before page 10 no matter how the files were packed. Nested folders are flattened and junk metadata is skipped.

Page-by-Page Navigation

Flip with the previous / next buttons or the left and right arrow keys, with a page counter and a progress bar showing where you are in the comic.

Zoom Into the Art

Fit the page to the reading width or zoom from 50% to 200% to appreciate the details and lettering up close.

Thumbnail Grid

Open the thumbnail strip to see every page at a glance and jump straight to the page you want with a single click.

Private by Design

The archive is unpacked and rendered entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, tracked or stored - close the tab and it is gone.

About the comic reader

Comic book archives are simply image folders wrapped in a compression format: a CBZ is a ZIP of images, a CBR is a RAR of images, and a CBT is a TAR of images. This reader unpacks those archives directly in your browser. It recognizes each format from its header bytes, extracts the picture files in natural filename order (ignoring text notes and macOS metadata such as __MACOSX entries), and shows one page at a time on a dark reading backdrop. For CBR files a small RAR decoder is loaded locally on first use - roughly 200 KB, never sent anywhere. Because everything runs on your device, you can safely open private drafts, previews or rare issues without worrying about your files leaving your computer.

How to read a comic

Reading a comic takes a moment and needs no account. Here is how.

1

Choose your file

Click the drop area or drag a .cbz, .cbr or .cbt file onto it. The archive is unpacked and read locally - it is not uploaded anywhere.

2

Flip through the pages

Use the previous / next buttons or the left and right arrow keys. Open the thumbnail strip to jump to any page instantly.

3

Zoom in for details

Set the zoom to Fit width for the full page, or zoom in up to 200% to admire the art. Tall pages scroll inside the reading pane.

Please note

Pages are shown in filename order, so files that do not sort naturally inside the archive (for example, purely numerical names with different padding) may appear in a different order than a dedicated comic app. Only image files are shown - text notes, metadata and __MACOSX junk are skipped. Very large archives (hundreds of megabytes) may take a moment to unpack, and a corrupt or password-protected RAR cannot be opened.
