Why search inside your e-books

Instant Full-Text Search

Type any word, phrase or topic and get results the moment you stop typing — no page reloads, no server round-trips, no waiting.

Search Your Whole Library at Once

Drop multiple EPUBs and MOBI-family e-books and search across all of them in one go. Results are grouped by book and chapter, so you always know where each match lives.

Exact Match Counts & Highlights

Every occurrence is counted precisely, and matching text is highlighted inside each snippet so you can scan results without opening the book.

100% Private, 100% Local

Indexing and searching happen entirely in your browser. Your e-books never leave your device — nothing is uploaded, tracked or stored.

Handles Multiple Books Automatically

Books are queued and indexed the moment they're dropped, with live progress for each file. Big libraries, no babysitting.

Copy a Clean Search Report

Export every match as a formatted plain-text report you can paste into notes, reviews or study guides — one click, no markup.

What is Full-text Search for e-books?

Full-text Search turns your e-book library into one big, instantly searchable index. EPUB, MOBI, AZW, AZW3, PRC and classic PalmDOC files all work — drop one book or a whole collection, and each file is read chapter by chapter in your browser to build a local index. Then type any word, phrase or topic and see every match grouped by book and chapter, with the surrounding passage highlighted. Every occurrence is counted exactly, so the results are honest: no summaries, no guesses, just the precise passages — ready to copy into notes, reviews or study guides. No conversion, no upload, no sign-up.

How to use the e-book search

Three steps — indexing is automatic once your files are dropped.

1

Add your e-book files

Drag and drop one or more .epub, .mobi, .azw, .azw3 or .prc files onto the upload area, or click to browse. Indexing starts automatically — no buttons to press.

2

Watch your books index live

Each book is read chapter by chapter with a live progress bar. When a file turns green and shows 'Ready', its full text is searchable.

3

Type a query and scan the results

Enter any word or phrase. Matches appear grouped by book and chapter with highlighted snippets and exact counts. Copy the report or clear the query to start over.

Important notes

Search is case-insensitive and matches partial words (typing 'dragon' also finds 'dragons'). Only readable EPUB, MOBI, AZW, AZW3, PRC and PalmDOC e-books can be indexed; DRM-protected files and other formats are not supported. Results for very common words can be extensive — the tool shows a capped preview and tells you when a chapter has more matches than it displays.
