What Is PDF Deskew?

Skew is the slight rotation that often appears in scanned pages — a document placed unevenly on a scanner or photographed at an angle ends up with text lines that slope down or up. While a small tilt may go unnoticed on screen, it looks unprofessional when printed and can interfere with OCR and automated document processing. Deskewing corrects this by detecting the angle of each page and rotating it so the text lines become perfectly horizontal. This tool analyzes every page of your PDF, detects the exact skew angle, and straightens it with sub-degree precision — all locally in your browser.

How to Deskew a PDF

Deskewing takes just a few steps. Everything runs in your browser.

1

Upload the tilted PDFs

Drag and drop up to 10 PDF files, or click the upload area to select them.

2

Adjust the options (optional)

Tune the sensitivity to catch subtle tilts and choose the analysis DPI. The defaults work well for most scans.

3

Deskew the files

Click Deskew PDFs. Each page is analyzed and corrected automatically.

4

Download the results

Download each straightened PDF individually, or download all of them as one ZIP archive.

Good to Know

Deskewing corrects tilt, not page orientation — a page rotated by 90° or 180° is left unchanged. Pages that are corrected are re-rendered as images, so any selectable text on those pages becomes part of the image; pages that are already straight keep their original content. Very light pages without enough text or graphics may not produce a reliable skew measurement and are left unchanged. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked before deskewing.
