What Does Font to Outline Mean?

When a PDF relies on fonts that are not embedded, it can look wrong or fail to print correctly on machines that lack those fonts. Converting text to outlines replaces every glyph with a vector-independent image, so the page is guaranteed to display identically everywhere — this is a common requirement in prepress and for sharing documents with people who may not have the same fonts. This tool achieves this by rendering each page at a high quality and rebuilding the PDF from the rendered images. You can optionally keep an invisible text layer so the document remains searchable.

How to Convert Fonts to Outlines

Converting fonts to outlines takes just a few steps. Everything runs in your browser.

1

Upload the PDFs

Drag and drop up to 10 PDF files, or click the upload area to select them.

2

Choose the options

Pick the output DPI, decide whether to keep searchable text, and optionally limit the conversion to a page range.

3

Convert the files

Click Convert Fonts to Outlines. Each page is rendered at the chosen quality and rebuilt without font dependencies.

4

Download the results

Download each outlined PDF individually, or download all of them as one ZIP archive.

Good to Know

Converting fonts to outlines turns pages into images, so the file size usually increases and the text is no longer directly editable unless you enable the invisible text layer. Higher DPI values give sharper output but larger files. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked before conversion. Very large pages at high DPI may be limited to avoid browser crashes — use a lower DPI in that case.
