About This N-Up PDF Tool

Our N-Up PDF tool arranges multiple pages of your document onto single sheets using pdf-lib. Choose from preset layouts (2, 4, 9, or 16 pages per sheet) or create a custom grid with your own columns and rows. Each page is scaled to fit its cell while preserving aspect ratio, and pages are placed in reading order. Configure the output page size from four options (A4, Letter, Legal, A3), set the page orientation (auto, portrait, or landscape), choose the layout direction (horizontal or vertical), and enable margins with an adjustable size (0-80pt) to prevent content from being cut off during printing. Optional page borders with a custom color help separate individual pages on each sheet. A live preview shows the layout in real-time as you adjust settings. This is ideal for creating handouts, reference sheets, and print-saving layouts. The file stays uploaded for multiple operations — results accumulate in the list. All processing stays local in your browser — no data is ever uploaded.

Important Notes

N-Up layout uses pdf-lib's embedPage + drawPage to place scaled page images onto output sheets. Pages are scaled to fit while preserving aspect ratio. Four output page sizes are available (A4, Letter, Legal, A3), with optional portrait or landscape orientation. The layout direction controls whether pages fill rows or columns first. Margins, when enabled, can be adjusted from 0 to 80pt via the slider to control spacing around the sheet edges. Page borders, when enabled, are drawn around each cell with your chosen color. The last sheet may contain fewer pages if the document page count isn't a multiple of the grid size. The Clear button clears only the results list without removing the file. Encrypted PDFs cannot be processed.
