PDF to EPUB keeps a rendered image of every page plus the extracted text layer, so scanned (image-only) PDFs convert as images alone — text from scans is not recognized (run OCR first). Each page becomes its own chapter rather than flowing into continuous paragraphs, which preserves the original layout at the cost of some reflowability. Very large documents take a little longer: page count, page size and your device all affect speed. Everything is processed locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded or stored.
