About the PowerPoint Media Extractor
Every picture, video, and audio clip inside a PowerPoint or OpenDocument presentation is stored as a separate file inside the package — modern .pptx files keep them in a media folder, and OpenDocument .odp files declare them in their manifest. The extractor reads that package in your browser, lists every media file it contains, and lets you save the ones you need. Legacy binary .ppt files (PowerPoint 97–2003) use an older OLE2 container the browser can't read directly, so they are converted to .pptx in your browser first, then extracted the exact same way. Because the assets are copied out exactly as they are stored, they come back at full original quality — nothing is re-encoded or compressed. You can extract a single image for reuse, grab a video clip you need for another project, or download the entire deck's media as a ZIP. Modern .pptx and OpenDocument .odp files are read directly in your browser. Legacy .ppt files (PowerPoint 97–2003) use an older OLE2 container that browsers cannot read directly, so they are converted to .pptx in your browser first — that conversion runs on this page's separate isolated context, so it needs a modern browser served over HTTPS or localhost. Extracted files may include media the presentation no longer displays, because unreferenced assets sometimes stay in the package; the tool simply returns everything it finds. Very large decks can contain hundreds of media files — the preview grid shows them all with lazy-loaded thumbnails, and if a single file cannot be read it is skipped and reported instead of failing the whole extraction. Processing happens entirely in your browser, so there is no upload and no file size limit beyond what your device can handle.
