What is Split PowerPoint?
Split PowerPoint is a browser-based tool for cutting large presentations down to size. Long decks are hard to review, email, and present — splitting them into smaller, topic-focused files makes every part easier to share and reuse. The tool offers three complementary ways to work: split a deck into equal parts, break it into consecutive chunks of N slides, or extract specific slide ranges into a brand-new presentation. Native .pptx and OpenDocument .odp decks are split instantly; legacy .ppt files are routed through a temporary working copy, and every output deck keeps the format of the file you uploaded — .pptx stays .pptx, .ppt stays .ppt, and .odp stays .odp. Because the whole process runs locally in your browser, there is no upload, no waiting, and no risk to your data. Design is preserved throughout: masters, layouts, themes, notes, and images follow the slides they belong to, so every output deck opens and edits cleanly in its own application.

Things to watch out for
Native .pptx and OpenDocument .odp files are split directly in the browser with no conversion. Legacy .ppt files are routed through a temporary .odp working copy by the LibreOffice engine that runs locally in your browser — this needs cross-origin isolation, so open the page over HTTPS or localhost. Every output deck keeps the format of the file you uploaded: .pptx to .pptx, .ppt to .ppt, .odp to .odp. Splits that would leave the deck unchanged (for example, more parts than slides, or ranges that keep every slide) are rejected with a clear message instead of producing identical copies. In Equal parts mode, the final part may contain fewer slides than the others when the slide count does not divide evenly.
