Our PDF Image Extractor uses PyMuPDF, compiled to WebAssembly, to scan PDF documents and extract all embedded images while preserving their original quality and format. Unlike screen capture tools, this extracts the actual image data from the PDF's internal structure — photos, illustrations, charts, and graphics come out in their original dimensions and file formats. The tool supports filtering by minimum width, height, and file size to help you focus on meaningful content. Extracted images are displayed in a visual grid with preview thumbnails, file info, and page location. You can download individual images with a single click or package all images into a ZIP archive. All processing stays local in your browser — no data is ever uploaded. The first run loads the PyMuPDF WebAssembly engine (~16MB), which is cached for subsequent use.
Extracting images from PDF files with our tool is simple:
Drag and drop one or more PDF files onto the upload area, or click to browse and select files from your device.
Set minimum width, height, and file size filters to exclude small images like icons and decorations. Default values (50px, 50px, 10KB) work well for most documents.
Click the Extract Images button. PyMuPDF scans each page of your PDF and extracts all embedded images that meet your filter criteria.
Browse extracted images in the visual grid. Click to preview in full size, download individual images, or use Download as ZIP to save everything at once.
This tool extracts images that are embedded in the PDF file. Vector graphics and text are not extracted as images. Scanned PDFs contain page images rather than embedded image objects — those can be extracted using our PDF to Image converter instead. The first use will download the PyMuPDF WebAssembly engine (~16MB) which is cached for subsequent sessions. Images are extracted in their original format and quality — no recompression is applied.
