What Is a PDF Booklet?

A booklet is a document printed on sheets that are folded in half and stapled along the fold to form a small book. To make this work, the pages must be arranged in a special order — not the normal 1, 2, 3 order — so that after folding and stacking the sheets, the pages read correctly. The classic saddle-stitch layout places pages so that the first sheet holds the first and last pages, the second sheet holds the second and second-to-last, and so on. This tool automates that ordering and lays the pages out in a grid on each sheet, ready to print on both sides.

How to Create a PDF Booklet

Creating a printable booklet takes a few simple steps. Everything runs in your browser.

1

Upload your PDF

Drag and drop a PDF file or click the upload area to select one. The page count is detected automatically.

2

Choose the layout

Pick a grid mode, paper size, and orientation. 1×2 with landscape paper is the standard booklet layout.

3

Adjust rotation and padding

Rotate pages if needed and adjust padding so content sits neatly inside the fold area. Check the live preview.

4

Create, print, and assemble

Click Create Booklet and download the arranged PDF. Print it double-sided, fold each sheet in half, and staple along the spine.

Good to Know

Encrypted PDFs cannot be processed and must be decrypted first. For a saddle-stitch booklet, print every sheet double-sided with no 'fit to page' scaling, fold each sheet in half in the correct order, then staple through the fold. If your page count is not a multiple of four, blank space is added automatically so the booklet folds correctly. Larger grids (2×4, 4×4) put several booklet pages on one side of a sheet, which is more economical for long documents.
